On 12 May 2020 during a session at the House of Councilors, Morocco’s Minister of Education Said Amzazi announced the official cancellation of all final exams during the 2019-2020 academic year. The first and second years of the baccalaureate levels will be excluded from this decision.
The minister said students of the national and regional baccalaureate exams will sit for exams in July and September 2020. For the remaining levels, only the grades obtained during the first semester of the academic year will be taken into consideration.
He said that the exams would take into account only lessons completed by 14 March 2020, before Morocco shifted to distance education due to the outbreak of Covid-19. Morocco suspended schools on 16 March 2020 as part of the country’s preventive measures against the spread of Covid-19.
The minister added that the education ministry would take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of students and teachers during exam periods.
